NICA Launched Updated Website
In an effort to be more useful to the Intentional Communities Movement in our Cascadia region, beyond our Spring and Fall Gatherings, NICA took time over the last half of 2019 to revamp our website. With help from Rob Baran, who helped with redesign and who is the ongoing new webmaster, we have an upgraded look and several new features.
It is our intention to add more articles showcasing news from existing communities, and offer resources for both ongoing and newly forming communities. Most notably, we have introduced a web page of current Listings – which is a way to place an ad, for free or low-cost to people seeking space in, or offering an available opening in current or forming communities. Please spread the word about this new resource!
Syd Fredrickson has been living in intentional communities since 1983. She trained to be a facilitator in the context of living in an egalitarian, income-sharing community (Twin Oaks), learning consensus facilitation from Caroline Estes, and exploring Sociocracy more recently with Diana Leafe Christian. She is a former board member and staff of the Foundation for Intentional Community (FIC), the most recent past President of the Northwest Intentional Communities Association (NICA), and for two years was a coordinator of West Coast Communities Conference. In 2019, Syd founded the service, Under 1 Roof – https://under1roof.info/, a resource for cooperative households, intentional communities, and homeowners contemplating the addition of one or more housemates to their homes.
