Multigenerational Cohousing Community Forming in Marysville, Washington

Description

Introductory meeting any Thursday from 5:30-6:30 pm Pacific time for a personal introduction and a chance to ask questions.  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87581340153

We are a multigenerational group of diverse people who care about the earth and being healthy and helping each other and if this sounds good to you, check us out. We are looking for members who long for connection and community! Is this you? We love children and pets and welcome them to our community.

While you can get a lot of information from our website (and we recommend you do), you cannot hear the red wing blackbirds or the frogs, or smell damp earth in the 10 acres of forest that adjoin our property (owned by the city, with no plans for development). You have to be there to hear the eagles bringing food to their babies in the nest.

We are in the process of forming our community and hope to break ground the end of 2021. About 1/3 of our homes have been sold.

We have 4.75 acres in Marysville, WA, midway between Marysville and Lake Stevens. This location is commuting distance to Seattle, and about 10 minutes to the transit center in Lake Stevens where there are commuter buses into Seattle businesses. We are about 15 minutes to the Everett transit center which also has many commuter as well as local buses and train connections up and down the Pacific coast. Our property is bordered on the east side by 10 acres of undeveloped woodland owned by the city of Marysville. There are no plans to develop this 10 acres which gives us a solid green belt.

We have a strong development team, with our Development Consultant, Chris Scotthanson, who has 30 years of experience developing cohousing communities, lives in cohousing and wrote the book "The Cohousing Handbook."  Our architect is Grace Kim of Schemata Workshop; Grace developed and lives in Capitol Hill Cohousing, and has been the architect for a number of cohousing communities. Our process consultant is Karen Gimnig, who is also the Communications Director for CoHo US, the national cohousing association.

We plan to have approximately 30 individual cottage homes, on "fee simple" lots. You  will own your home and the lot your home is on. Members of the community will own the common land (including the Common House) together and will be responsible for maintenance of their own individual home and contributing to the common land through Home Owner Association dues (the amount to be determined). Our preliminary cottage floor plans and a preliminary site plan, both subject to change, can be found on our website.

Our organic garden, orchard and berry patch are a high value for us and these have already been established on our property and have been producing for the past two years. It is a community effort and we work together and share the harvest. Although working in the garden is not a requirement of membership (if you enjoy eating  the harvest from the garden, that's a bonus)!

More features of our land, our community and our plan for "green building," electric car charging stations and sustainability can be found on our website. We encourage you to attend our (free, no obligation!) Introductory Zoom meeting for more information and look forward to meeting you.
